The deal, in plain English.

These terms cover your use of Guidepost. We kept them short and readable on purpose, the same way we treat everything else. Using Guidepost means you agree to what’s below. If you’re agreeing on behalf of a business, you’re saying you have the authority to do that.

The short version

• Guidepost reads your business numbers and tells you what needs attention. It never writes back to your tools.
• Your connections are read-only, and your data is never used to train AI models.
• You own your data and your accounts; we own Guidepost itself.
• It’s an advisor, not a guarantee: decisions about your business are yours.
• Either of us can end things; you can export or delete your data when you go.

What Guidepost is

Guidepost is a read-only analytics and advisory service for home-service and trades businesses. You connect the tools you already use (Jobber or Housecall Pro, QuickBooks, and your ad accounts like Google Ads), and Guidepost reads the records in them to produce a short, plain-English digest of what needs attention, plus a chat you can ask follow-up questions in. Every number is traced to its source.

Guidepost is diagnostic-rich and prescriptive only when the data is near-certain. It surfaces what’s happening and, where the numbers clearly back it, what to do, but it is a tool to inform your judgment, not a replacement for it. We won’t tell you to bet on a guess, and you shouldn’t treat its output as financial, legal, or professional advice.

Accounts and access

You need an account to use the product, and you’re responsible for what happens under it: keep your login credentials safe and let us know promptly if you think someone else has them. You must give accurate information, be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and use Guidepost for a legitimate business. If you add other people from your team, you’re responsible for their use too.

Your data and third-party connections

When you connect a tool, Guidepost reads business records from it: jobs, invoices, customers, campaigns, and ad spend. Those connections are read-only: Guidepost cannot edit, create, or delete anything in your source systems. We use that data for exactly one thing: producing your digests and answering your questions.

You keep ownership of your data. Each business’s data lives in its own isolated database (not a shared pool with other customers), encrypted in transit and at rest. When AI is used to phrase an answer, your data is processed to generate that answer and is not used to train any model. The Privacy Policy covers the details of what we collect and who processes it.

The tools you connect (Jobber, Housecall Pro, QuickBooks, ad platforms) stay governed by their own terms and policies. You’re responsible for having the right to connect each account, and your use of those services through Guidepost remains subject to their rules. Guidepost isn’t responsible for the accuracy of the underlying data your tools provide. We report what’s there.

Acceptable use

Don’t use Guidepost to:

• Connect accounts or data you’re not authorized to access.
• Break the law, infringe someone’s rights, or violate the terms of a tool you’ve connected.
• Probe, attack, or try to break the security of the service, or access another business’s data.
• Copy, resell, scrape, or reverse-engineer the product, or use it to build a competing service.
• Overload the service or interfere with how it works for others.

Intellectual property

You own your business data; we own Guidepost: the software, the analysis, the way it phrases things, the brand, and everything we build. Using the product doesn’t transfer any of that to you. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Guidepost for your own business while these terms are in effect. The digests and answers we generate are yours to use inside your business; the system that produces them stays ours.

Disclaimers and limits

Guidepost is provided “as is.” We work hard to make it accurate and reliable, but we can’t promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or right about every number , especially since it’s reading data from tools we don’t control. Nothing Guidepost outputs is a guarantee of any business result, and it isn’t a substitute for professional financial, tax, or legal advice. Decisions about your business are yours.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Guidepost isn’t liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or lost data, arising from your use of the service. Where liability can’t be excluded, it’s limited to the amount you paid us for Guidepost in the twelve months before the claim. Some places don’t allow certain limits, so parts of this may not apply to you.

Termination

You can stop using Guidepost and close your account at any time. We can suspend or end access if you break these terms or use the service in a way that creates risk for us or others. We’ll give you notice where it’s reasonable to. When things end, your right to use the product stops; you can export or ask us to delete your data, and it ages out of backups on a short schedule (see the Privacy Policy).

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll update this page and the date at the top, and if you’re a customer, we’ll tell you directly. Continuing to use Guidepost after a change means you accept the updated terms.
